Our mission is to offer the best priced and highest quality of taxidermy to our customers. I, Thad Bowman, will continue to be educated in new techniques and strive to always improve the products and services provided. And as the business continues to grow, we will take pride in preserving the family owned and operated small business atmosphere while offering a wide array of taxidermy products. I learned at an early age the importance of working hard, treating people fairly and taking pride in my work and that’s exactly what you can expect from Bonecollector Taxidermy.
I grew up running the mountains of West Virginia and if I wasn’t chasing whitetails or turkeys, I could be found on the creek bank fishing for whatever wanted to bite that day. My dad spent a lot of time teaching me the tricks of the trade as well as the importance of ethics and values both in the outdoors and in life.

Upon graduating high school, I wasn’t sure what career path to take but I knew I was finished with school for a while. After a short period in construction, I joined the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After being stationed in New Jersey and Alaska, I ended up at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland where I am currently stationed. I have planted roots here and now live in Owings with my wonderful wife and our 2 kids. At the time, I had served for 16 years and was looking at possibilities after retirement. One day it occurred to me that joining my creativity and love for the outdoors was exactly what I was looking for. I officially retire August 1st and taxidermy is how I will spend my time after the Air Force.
I started studying techniques and processes and spent some time apprenticing under award winning West Virginia taxidermist Scott McGuire. After a lot of research and hands-on training, I moved on to preserving trophies for myself and my son. He was also born with the wonderful curse and love for hunting and fishing and does it every minut
I started studying techniques and processes and spent some time apprenticing under award winning West Virginia taxidermist Scott McGuire. After a lot of research and hands-on training, I moved on to preserving trophies for myself and my son. He was also born with the wonderful curse and love for hunting and fishing and does it every minute he can. So after much discussion with my wife, we decided to make it official and open our own small business. I passed my Maryland Taxidermist Test in April 2019 and hit the ground running.
My goal in this business is to provide high quality work at reasonable prices. Not everyone can afford or wants to pay an arm and a leg for preserving their trophy and you shouldn’t have to for high quality work. I am the only taxidermist and will be the only one handling your trophy. I still love to hunt and fish and look forward to hearing all about your hunt when you drop your trophy off to us. We look forward to meeting you and serving your needs.
God Bless.

It was a real pleasure hosting these great guys for a 4 day whitetail class taught by current whitetail world champion Wes Mote. Wes' knowledge of whitetail deer is mind blowing. It was 4 days of laughs, growing pains and an almost overwhelming amount of information and techniques. Good thing I wrote stuff down
I can't wait to put it all to use on all my future work.
